What and Why Point 1: The Inerrancy of the Scriptures

HERE WE GO! What I Believe and Why - The Five Points of Thumperism (or fundamentalism). We are going to be discussing what I believe and why I believe it. Now, let me be the first to tell you that what I believe matters just about as much as that of a two-month old rabid chipmunk. But let me also be the first to tell you that what God's Word, the AV 1611 (KJV) has to say, matters as much as if God were to say it. (Well, come to think of it, God did say it!) That is what we will be studying. The five points that God has clearly put in His Word. The five points of our faith. What we believe, and why.

So, beginnings first (that's how people usually do it) the first point of Thumperism is... Drum-roll please...

THE INERRANCY OF THE SCRIPTURES!!!

This is on my top five list of the most debated subjects in Christianity. In the past two millenniums over 450 versions of the Bible have come out in our English language. Christians wonder which one they should use. Our good old KJV says in 1 Corinthians 14:33, "For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints." Not knowing which Bible version you should use, and ultimately not knowing what the Word of God even is, is as confusing as things get. God promised to write a book and preserve it for all generations. But now there are 450 of them, and Christians are wondering which one God actually wrote. See my point? Confusion is not of God and it shouldn't be in the church.

In order to explain any phrase (such as the inerrancy of the Scriptures) you need to define each word. So, the first word is "the". Not hard at all. The is an adjective. If you want more info on the word go ask anyone who is fluent in the English language because you obviously are not.

The next word is a little more challenging, "Inerrancy". Something that is inerrant is perfect. It has absolutely no errors or flaws. This word is a perfect adjective to describe our KJV 1611. No errors. No flaws. And absolute truth! God said in Proverbs 30:5: "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." Every word of God is pure. Their you go... end of story. God says that His Words are pure. They are inerrant. God preserved His words over the generations for us. His pure, holy, and inerrant words are given to us in written form.

The next two words are "of" and "the". Please don't make me bore you to death with the definitions of these two. TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH WE GO...

The last word in this wonderful point of Thumperism is "Scriptures". The Holy Scripture is the Bible. The AV 1611. Our KJV. The very words of God that have been preserved. Praise God, we have them in their complete form!

Now for the hard part. Putting them all together:

• The
• Inerrancy - the holy, perfect state
• Of
• The
• Scriptures - the complete 66 books that God has combined into one volume, His complete revelation to man.

Putting this all into a nutshell: God preserved His perfect and holy word from the beginning. He translated it into our English language, in which we now have, the Authorized Version of 1611.

What is the Christian supposed to do with all of this? Well several things pop into my mind at the moment. First of all, and foremost, we need to thank God for this Book! Do you realize that if God's Word wasn't inerrant, if it wasn't perfect, than we would be in complete loss. We would be headed strait for Hell, because we would have never heard of the sweet name of Jesus. God's inerrant Words are something to be ever so thankful for.

We also need to stand-up for this Book. No other book in all of history has been attacked more than God's Word. It seems that from every angle the Book is being criticized, mocked, and scoffed at. As soldiers for the good cause of Jesus Christ, we need to fight to our last breath for God's Book. God uses men and women like you and I. He will use you if you are willing to submit to His calling, and fight for what is right.

And lastly you can read it. Why else did God preserve His written Word? Don't let God's Words go to waste! I love that verse in 2 Timothy were it says (speaking of God's Words): "That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." God wants to use His inerrant Words to change you for the better. Let Him!

Hi. My name is Peter, and I'll be your KJV Thumper for today (and tomorrow for that matter). I am a born-again Bible-believing Christian, and I hope you are too. However, despite my somewhat deceiving name, I will not force you to become one because that would be hypocritical, disgusting, vile, filthy, you get the point. If what I believe is true than there would be absolutely no reason to try to force it on you, it would prove itself. In which the Authorized Version of 1611 does so very nicely (probably because it is written by God. Who coulda thunk it!)

Well, you're probably wondering why I call myself a "Bible-Thumper". The answer is quite simple, really. I believe that the Bible, being a perfect book, should be "thumped" by the Christian. What do I mean by that? Well... Paul is perfectly (through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit I might add) in Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." A Bible-Thumper in my eyes, is someone who is not ashamed of what God's Word says. He takes it in its intirety and will preach it while "thumping" the book (that is really where the thumping part comes from). If you don't like to hear what God has to say than this blog is not for you.
